REVITALIZATION OF ISLAMIC KNOWLEDGE: RESPONDING TO EPISTEMOLOGICAL CHALLENGES IN THE MODERN ERA

Knowledge development during the classical Islamic civilization significantly contributed to global advancement, particularly in medicine, astronomy, mathematics, philosophy, and the arts. However, in the modern era, the Islamic world faces serious epistemological challenges, marked by a dichotomy between religious and secular sciences and the dominance of Western secular paradigms in education. This study aims to trace Islam's historical contributions to science and explore integrative educational models that seek to address these challenges. Using a qualitative-descriptive method and a library research approach that engages with classical and contemporary literature, the study finds that integrating knowledge represents a progressive response to the current crisis of knowledge in the Islamic world. The research recommends strengthening an Islamic scientific paradigm based on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, adab (ethics), and unifying spiritual and rational dimensions to construct a holistic educational system rooted in Islamic values and responsive to today's global challenges.
