Abstract

Creativity is a vital aspect of early childhood development that must be nurtured from an early age. Unfortunately, in many educational settings, academic skills such as reading, writing, and arithmetic are still prioritized, while the development of creativity is often overlooked. One activity that can stimulate children's creativity is painting—particularly using alternative materials such as banana leaf stalks, which are not only unique but also eco-friendly and affordable. Based on this issue, the present study aims to enhance the creativity of 5–6-year-old children through painting activities using banana leaf stalks. This research is a classroom action study (CAR) conducted in two cycles at PAUDQU La Tansa Babakan Legok, involving 13 children from Group B. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed an improvement in children's creativity across various indicators, such as the ability to express ideas, originality, and idea elaboration. Painting with banana leaf stalks proved to effectively stimulate imagination and provide meaningful aesthetic experiences for the children. Therefore, using banana leaf stalks as a painting medium is an effective alternative for fostering creativity in early childhood educational settings.
